Orphanage Madrasah Program
In Ramadan of 2022, we launched this orphanage program to house 20+ orphans under the care of one of the IDP Imams – Imam Emran Dawood. Fast-forward, construction of their new home has been completed, and is now functioning as a boarding madrasah, where, not only are we ensuring there is a roof above their heads, but they are receiving their Islamic education as well. With your generous support, we can continue to ensure these children have a permanent place to call home, access to food and drink without worry, and education for a better future.
The reality of the situation
HAPPY’s approach is holistic and sustainable, as it serves not only the children, but also their support structure of parents and teachers. This aligns the rhetoric between home and school, developing parents’ and teachers’ understanding of early childhood education and children’s cognitive, social and emotional development. By building the skills of the teachers and parents in each community, HAPPY has a far-reaching, snowball effect, indirectly impacting siblings at home and students at schools.

An Imam's wish
Meet Sheikh Emran Dawood, an esteemed Imam within the folds of the IDP. His remarkable journey is one of dedication and compassion, as he and his wife selflessly oversee the well-being of 17 vulnerable orphans who lack a permanent home. His dream of establishing an orphanage in Malawi is becoming a reality with IDP and your generous support. Now, a fully operational madrasah, not only providing the necessities of shelter, food and drink, but also, fostering an Islamic upbringing and education for a better future.
With your support, let’s continue to make his dream a lasting reality and take care of these orphans!
